Jewellery Care Guide

With the right care, your Soléa jewellery will stay beautiful for years to come. Follow these simple tips to keep your pieces looking their very best.

General Care Tips

  • Remove before water: Always remove your jewellery before showering, swimming, or washing up. Prolonged exposure to water can cause tarnishing.
  • Avoid chemicals: Keep jewellery away from perfume, hairspray, lotions, and cleaning products. Apply these products first and allow them to dry before putting on your jewellery.
  • Last on, first off: Make jewellery the last thing you put on when getting ready, and the first thing you take off.
  • Avoid heat: Remove jewellery before sunbathing, using a sauna, or exercising, as heat and sweat can accelerate tarnishing.

Cleaning Your Jewellery

  • Gold-plated pieces: Gently wipe with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth after each wear to remove oils and residue. Avoid abrasive cloths or polishing cloths as these can remove the plating.
  • Sterling silver: Use a silver polishing cloth to gently buff away any tarnish. For a deeper clean, use a small amount of mild soap and warm water, then dry thoroughly with a soft cloth.
  • Gemstones & crystals: Wipe gently with a damp cloth. Avoid soaking as this can loosen settings.

Storing Your Jewellery

  • Store each piece separately to prevent scratching and tangling.
  • Keep jewellery in the Soléa gift box or a soft pouch when not in use.
  • Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and humidity.
  • Use anti-tarnish strips in your jewellery box to help slow tarnishing.

Caring for Specific Pieces

Necklaces

Fasten clasps when storing to prevent tangling. Lay flat or hang to avoid kinks in delicate chains.

Rings

Remove rings before applying hand cream or sanitiser. Clean regularly with a soft cloth to remove everyday buildup.

Earrings

Clean earring posts with a cotton bud dipped in rubbing alcohol to keep them hygienic. Store in pairs to avoid losing backs.

Bracelets

Remove before exercise or manual work to avoid bending or scratching. Store flat or coiled loosely.
